Danish national guard (Flyverhjemmeværnet - "home army") was founded on the basis of the Resistance groups. The founding date is June 11, 1945, the first detachment consisted of 250 people.
Organisation was engaged in training of guerrilla forces in case of military invasion and occupation. As a potential enemy meant, of course, the Soviet Union, although this was never stated openly.
Now the Militia is focused on the implementation of anti-terrorist and rescue operations and assists the police and other public services. For example, the 1200 soldiers of the Militia to maintain order during the Copenhagen summit on climate change in 2009.
the composition of the Militia are permanent professional units, and temporary formation of the volunteers. Volunteers work on a Pro Bono basis, during the performance of official duties on the state.
